First, goatse.cx is not part of who we are here, so I wouldn't call that required reading.
Second, even if "All Your Base" got old, zany quotes is a huge part of this forum and not to acknowledge that would be very wrong.
If you're wondering why this forum exists, Kiwi said he'll be making the site public soon and we're probably going to get new people who don't know much about this place and this is an idea for how new people can get comfortable.

That's because you need to put http: in the address.
If you don't, it thinks the zeroes etc is part of the link.
