| History has shown that I'm no good at these threads, but here we go...
The Village
Written, Produced, and Directed by M. Night Shyamalan
Wow...what can I say? M. Night knows his stuff, man. There hasn't been a movie made by him that I haven't liked.
This movie...well, the beginning was a little slow, and it felt sort of awkward, and maybe a little forced, but...it seems to me that most movies these days don't have strong openings.
But damn, when this movie got rolling...pure greatness.
I won't go into too much detail, of course, but suffice to say that stuff happens in the village which makes them face their deep dark secrets and such. One of the twists in this movie really surprised me, but...the other, not so much. The person I went to this movie with said she was honestly surprised, but I started seeing it about halfway through.
Even with that said, I enjoyed this movie immensely. It's so beautifully done that even the sometimes-stiff acting didn't drag it down at all, in my opinion.
Anyway...highly recommended, dudes.
Overall score: A+ -----------

| Additional Note:
Everybody and their mother, including the local critics, seem to hate this movie.
Fuck 'em, I say.
M. Night's stuff usually isn't appreciated by normal people in the first place, and the critics...hell, the average critic wouldn't know a good movie if it knocked him down and took a shit on his head.
Anyway...despite all the bad press, I'd say you should still give the movie a chance. Even if you don't like it, you could find a lot worse things to go see at the theater. -----------
