| I went to see Michael Moore's movie yesterday...
I was really happy to go, but I was a bit disappointed
SPOLIERS LOL
The movie did take a lot of important points into account, to name a few:
- Bush's election was a big mistake, he didn't actually win
- Everyone in the Bush administration and bush family has ties with or works/worked in an oil company
- When Bush was told that the nation was under attack, he just stood there, looking natural -- did he know in advance something was happening, why was he not rushed to safety?
- Out of all the believed-to-be highjackers, most of them were Saudis, Osama Bin Laden was a Saudi, the dozens of Bin Laden family members who were rushed out of the country (even though all flights were grounded) were Saudis. Yet Bush attacked Afghanistan to find Bin Laden, knowing very well that he's probably in Saudi Arabia.
All that stuff was actually pretty interesting, especially since we had parallels between what was going on in Afghanistan and Iraq, and what was going on on american TV sets, but how did the last 30 minutes of the movie go?
He interviewed families of soldiers who died in Iraq, and talked a lot about American casualties. He did not emphasize on the fact that the war was unnecessary, but rather that the war caused all these soldiers to die, which was unfair... I think this is what disappointed me the most... He's saying that those who are in the army had no choice but to join the army to pay for college, and it's america's poor who were sent to Iraq to die.
Well... I'm sorry to say but that's absolutely besides the point, he should have developed on why the war was absolutely unjustified both before and after it was declared. If you sign up for the army, don't expect to sit there idly when a war bursts out. Michael Moore concentrated on the polemic aspect rather than the informative aspect of the soldiers' lives..
That kind of bored me... My great grandfather was found dying on the sidewalk outside a concentration camp, ready to be picked up by the german army's dead body garbage trucks. He was picked up by american soldiers, he weighed 35Kg (That's about 70-75 lbs I believe) and actually survived to tell about his experience, and that's why I'm alive today -- Anyways... I know about the horrors of war, and were any of the two world wars justified? Hitler, George W Bush... Both loonies who went to war and got people killed for extremely dumb reasons. I don't think talking about dead soldiers was a really good idea, not because they're not worthy of mention, but because the documentary lost its primary focus, and dragged on about the story of one mother losing her son in the war, repeatedly crying and talking about how great it would be if he hadn't died...
But overall, it was a pretty good movie to see, and just like Michael Moore said at Cannes, I dare you to watch this movie and vote for Bush, honestly. ;p -----------
