This place is getting dull with lack of posts in the last few days. Hence, I shall create a new topic, all about my EZ Flash Advance, which I just ordered on Thurday. Hopefully, it will be here on Monday, Wednesday at the latest.

Now, discuss damn you! Discuss!

Well I've had mine for about... 5 months, and I have to say it's a very good flash cart. The linker is really small, the thing is USB so it doesn't take 10 minutes to fill up the whole cart. It's much more stable than the Visoly carts: I have yet to lose a single saved game. Also it supports size stripped roms better (that empty space at the end of some roms can be trimmed, they take up less space), the visoly cart sometimes crapped out when you tried to start a trimmed rom...

Anyhow this is probably one of the best carts in the world, you won't regret it!

I sure hope not. But from all the user reviews and evaluations I've read, I'm sure I made the right decision.

Now I'm just waiting for it to get here. The site (mwelectronics.com) said it would ship within 24 hours, and be delivered in 2-3 days within the U.S. If mail were delivered on Sundays, I would probably be in gaming splendor as we wpeak. But alas, I must wait another day.

By the way kiwi, how well does it support other emulators like PocketNES and Goomba? I'm really looking forward to use all the other nifty features like that, image viewers, e-book reads, videos, music, and whatever. I've heard video/mp3 quality isn't too great on the flash cart, and it takes up lots of space, but I want to at least try it, just for the novelty factor. ;)

It supports everything pretty well, and even though it's true that video is huge when converted to a gba program, the quality is outstanding... It's a flash cart really, it behaves as if you had a real cartridge in there, and most likely anything written for the game boy advance will run in it..

Hurrah. I just bought a Gameboy Player today, and that's going to kick ass with my EZFA.

Plus I bouhgt Double Dash and Viewtiful Joe, so that should hold me over until the cart comes in the mail.

Quoting Chaos:

Woohoo! It just came in the mail! Very much yayness!

I know this thread is more than two years old, but since I went and picked up the Mother 3 ROM (as well as some others) I've been getting back into the GBA and have been thinking about getting a flash cart.

And while they're now up to EZ-Flash Advance 4...those are like two hundred bucks, while the original is nice and cheap. So I was wondering if anyone who still owns his could tell me if it's still "very much yayness", or not. I've read Chaos's review of the product in question right here on the site, but it doesn't tell me anything about its longevity...like if I'll need to replace it eventually, or if there are any troubles that come up after owning it for a long time. That kind of stuff.

So if anyone could help me out (though I think only Chaos visits here any more), I'd appreciate it.

Mine still works just fine, though size constraights get a bit tiring after awhile. And If i remember correctly, the Mother 3 ROM is 256 mbits by itself, and couldn't be stripped. So it won't fit on an EZFA anyway.

Probably the best GBA flash cart is the EZ-Flash III. Not only does it handle GBa extraordinarily well, it also has growing NDS support.

Here's an excellent review

If you do go that route, I would suggest the 2 gbit version, as it's only an extra thirty dollars.

I don't own one myself, but am looking into purchasing it within the next few weeks.

Ah, I see.
The EZF3 does sound pretty good, so that's probably the way I'll end up going.

Heh...when I was first checking them out, I had things confused between bytes and bits (like a lot of people, I'm sure). I was really wondering what kind of ROM freak would ever need 4 gigabytes of space.

Yeah, lots of people get thrown off with that.

You can still fit a good number of things on a 256 card, as long as it's not videos or music or anything.

I still have my EZ-Flash II Power Star, 3 years and it still hasn't lost any saves...

I'm not sure if the EZF3 is a good idea though... It's kind of a crappy version of the EZ2 made by a different company, with less durable hardware and shitty linker software... Plus it tends to crap out with large NDS games because of the way data banks are managed... It is cheaper though, I'll give them that...

Well, I have to admit that it was a bitch and a half to set up...but now that I do have it working, it's been great.

I mean, I've only had it for a couple days, but...I'll be taking it on vacation with me, so we'll see.

Yes sir.

[Plug upcoming!]
Winsunx.com had the 4Gb version for only 98 bucks, so that's what I went with.
Even after the shipping from China, it ended up being $30 cheaper than the pre-shipping price on Jandaman.com (which seemed to be the most recommended place, when I looked around).
And I got it in only 3 days.

It worked great on my trip, too, so I'm happy.

Wow, really? I knew Winsunx was cheap, but I ws under the impression that the price evened out after shipping.

Don't they only take Western union money transfers or something, though?

Upon further inspection, it looks like they do take Paypal now.

How much was your total cost? How much was shipping?

Yeah, I was glad to see that they took Paypal, even though they make you pay a small surcharge to do things that way.

The Breakdown:
4Gb EZ3: $98
Shipping: $18
PayPal charge: $5.22
Total: $121.22

Maybe they can sell it on the cheap because the EZ3 is made in China anyway.
Either way, though...

$98? I'm seeing it listed right now for 63 bucks.

http://www.winsunx.com/list.php?mod=630

Either way, I'm definitely buying it from here. ~125 was what I was looking to spend pre-shipping on a 2gb anyway, so this is a great price.

Maybe it's an anniversary sale or something.

Oh well...98 was still a pretty good deal, I think.

I think I'll order it as soon as I cash my paycheck on Tuesday.

Especially considernig that price may not be permanent.

Oh yeah. About that.

I needed money for other junk, so I ended up not getting it yet. Good idea, too since WinsunX dropped the price again to $55.

I think I may have changed my mind though. I think I'm just going to go ahead and pick up the EZ4, the successor built more intended to run DS games. I'll see how my next paycheck goes, and maybe order it then.

I'll likely get the EZ3 in time, though. It would be nice to keep all my GBA games in one cart and never worry about having to change it again.

Jesus christ, $55USD? For 4GB? Man, I was eyeing a 2GB G6 that was around $100, but this beats all. Now all I need to nab is a PassMe and I'm set.

If you're looking for DS support, I'd probably say to go with the the EZ4. I only paid $36 for it, and about another $30 for a 1GB miniSD card.

It'll likely be here tomorrow, so I'll keep everyone posted with the results.

Results: So I got my EZ4 about noon today. So far it's working beatifully, except my USB miniSD reader is being kind of a bitch. The only game I haven't got working has been Tony Hawk's American Wasteland. I'll definitely try out some of the more advanced features (like music and movies) when I get home from work tonight.
