Very, very nice avatar.

Hope the game's good. So far, I have a nearly complete metroid collection, so it's not a question of whether I'll buy it, it's whether I'll like it when I have it, or how long I'll wait until the price seems reasonable to me.

Yeah, Im definetely getting the game too. Like the website says, just imagine playing the rigional Metroif with Super Milles and Ice Bemas and all thatc ool junk. It makes me giddy just thinking about it...

But now that just makes me wonder, why the hell hasnt Nintendo remade Super Metroif in GBA? Those bastards.

Thanks about the avatar. The thing is like 77 frames though, so I shall smite Dial-up users with high load times! Bwahahahaha.

Looks more like a reinvention of the old Metroid than a remake, which is a good thing because I'm kinda getting sick of all these direct ports of old games tainting the GBA with their.........oldness.

The ports are both good in that people who haven't played the games before and haven't a clue as to what emulation is can play them, and bad in that those of us who HAVE played them are getting tired of waiting for new material already.

Oh, jeez. You're not one of those people who thinks that the age of a game is directly related to its quality, are you?
If anything, I'm sick of what should be direct ports of old games but turn out to be cheaply renacted versions with all sorts of sacrifices in gameplay, graphics, and sound.

I'm with you on this one. I'm tired of video game companies just dumping all their old SNES shit to the GBA instead of making some new games.

ON-TOPIC:
Metroid Zero Mission sounds interesting. I'll have to download it when it comes out.

Well, I'm sorry that the wondrous system that you love so much is tainted by games that happen to be more than three years old, which of course makes them crap.

Really, what are you complaining about?
If you liked the old game, now you can play it somewhere where you don't have access to a TV.
What's the real problem for you? Is it that the companies who make the games didn't go to extra effort to make a new game? Or is it just that you've played and replayed the game back when it came out and now you think because you're tired of it, everyone else should be?

Personally, the age of a video game to me is the most immaterial quality ever. I'll take an old good game over a new bad one any day.

Didn't I say that in my last post? I have no problem with old games, but dumping every single game you ever made for the SNES onto the GBA is fucking lazy.

I tried to come up with a response to Hyena's defense of old games, but Doc Funky basically said what I was thinking. If a company is gonna remake an old game, it should do so with improvements, not just graphically, but gameplay wise as well to make it better. Otherwise it's just the same old shit and shows laziness as Doc said.

Of course, we all know the reason why Nintendo remakes games exactly as they were: to counter "piracy". By making an old game new again they can make a case of this "new" game's sales being hurt by the "illegal sharing" of its original.

Reintroducing an old game to a new audience is good, but Nintendo's way of handling it is sometimes questionable.

I like the classic ports, but that seems like all we've been seeing ay too much lately. While I love to re-enjoy the old classics, I want to play some new ones as well. That way I can play THOSE games in 10 years on the "GBA SP XP Ultra 6" again.

As long new stuff is smacked into the cart, it's okay for me. Kinda like Resident Evil Remake, it's a good idea to make things fresh for the die hards, too..

This looks pretty good already, and I can't wait to down.....well get it from my trusty gamesstore.

One thing I regret is that Nintendo didn't make a new Zelda on the GBA... I mean the minute the dreamcast was announced, everyone was hoping for a new sonic, that happened, for the PS2 it was the final fantasy series, for the GBA, well, everyone was looking forward to a new Mario or a new Zelda, but we got none of that... The new zeldas are on Gamecube, so are the new Marios, all we got was a new multiplayer-only Zelda game with a SNES port, ports with some useless enhancements of Mario games and Wario-themed games...

Now I've never owned a NES or an SNES, and I'm really happy to be able to play Super Mario Bros 2, Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island on the GBA, as well as A Link to the Past, but I've played those games at friends' houses, I've played them on emulators, and I must say, I'm quite disappointed that this is all we get. I know a port isn't that easy to make, but why not make a brand new, original game? Zelda: The Wind Waker has this magical feel to it, it's the sequel to Ocarina of Time on the Game Cube, it's a really cool game, it's new. The ports are great games, but they're the great games from 10 years ago... Not a bad move at all, they're just disappointing to the people who were getting their hopes up... Especially 2 years after the console appears.

It's not that dramatic though... Just disappointing...

Well, it took some time, but hey, don't worry. They are busy with a Zelda GBA game, but totally no info on it yet.

Miyamoto spilled these beans to a dutch game reporter called Jurjen, so rejoice!

...But who of you haven't seen THAT coming? u_u

The Resident Evil remake? They changed the crappy dialogue and got new better voice actors, didn't they? That means they completely took away the best thing about that game.

I say this, ye spawn of hell;

...Whoa.

I got to play Metroid Zero Mission.

As soon I touched it, it was over...done...finished. o.O
My first clear time was 3:34, on Normal....what the hell?

The game is great and stuff, but it's like eating Ice Cream on a hot day. It's finished before you know it.

The problem is, Experienced Metroid players will flow trough this game without a sweat. You know what's next, and what Samus is capable of. Ok, sure the new official SpeedBall move is great and all...Finishing a game in 3:40 hours *no savestating. OOP I am using rom yesh*

Oh well, a hardmode is unlocked so that should keep me busy some more.

Please play the game, Metroid fans will surely love the suprises added to the game, and it answers some questions about the timeline, too.

Oh and I only had 66% of item collect. BEAT ME IF U DARE.

I finished it in 6 hours with 71%, and got 100% in 9 hours... I like the 100% picture better.. :)

I played hard mode a little, it's really tough, must be even tougher in the space pirate ship since the enemies rarely give you any energy...

It was a bit shorter than metroid fusion... But still it was a good game.. Only thing I didn't like so much is that the atmosphere was very different from fusion.. You're not afraid to open the next door and see what lurks there waiting for you.. When the space pirates chase you there is absolutely no adrenaline. Look at the SA-X.. Most people crapped their pants when they first saw it!

I loved Zero Mission, but I'll agree it was extremely short. I blame my "Metroid Sense." Go to other boards (GBATemp for example) and look at their M:ZM Help threads. People are extremely stupid.

That whole, "Metroid Gear Solid" (as I call it) part was pretty fun though. Sneaking around was definitely a nice addition. Sure, they kinda had that in Fusion, but then it was more like running away rather that hiding.

I've got a shitty 3:30-some complete with 60-some %, a 1:31 complete with 43%, and a 100% complete in 3:30-some. I'm currently working on writing a guide for all the items and the various ways to obtain them (Including sequence breaking).

Has anyone else noticed that you can kill Ridley before Kraid if you find the proper hidden shaft? It'd be an act of god, but I'm sure the magic of savestages can help me with that one ;)

I hear if you get under 15% you get a special picture. I'm looking forward to it.
