Three people I know all agreed at once that Super Metroid is boring.
I feel depressed over it. I know that sounds dumb. It's not the biggest thing to get depressed over, but it got to me.
It always bothers me when people dislike things for no good reason, like I think there's no point to anyone trying to make anything if people are going to hate things for no reason. But now perfectly sane people are saying they dislike what I think is the best game of alltime, and not just that they don't like it, but that it's so boring that I'm an idiot for liking it.
I think I need a hug or something.

I think you have to consider that Super Metroid, while great, is still a certain kind of video game, and the way I see it there's no way you can satisfy everyone. I love Super Metroid as much as the next guy, but that's mainly because I'm into its action-oriented exploration elements and blowing things up with lasers and stuff. I myself don't feel too strong about RPG's; If RPG's became more action-oriented and direct then I'd like them more, but then they wouldn't be RPG's.
It would be great if we could all just agree to disagree, but then it would be boring, no? Also: METROID SUCKS HAHAHAHA*cough*

That's because they're not humans like us...
Metroid was (and still is) great and it's a fact, of course, some people don't have enough geek capacity to recognize the enormous value of such a game, and that's why we're here, so that it gets some recognition.

Most people who play games look for instant excitement and entertainment. Metroid was great, but a lot of people hated it because you had to wait to get to the good parts.

I feel much better now. The three who ganged up on me, well:
One of them is not human in any respect. I knew this from the beginning, but it added insult when people I respected and admired joined in.
It turns out that one of the others was only giving me a hard time, although he did admit later he got bored with Super Metroid and didn't play it very long (so he completely missed out on the good stuff) so I think I can forgive him for that.
The third one didn't really explain himself, but he kind of helped me feel better afterwards. I definitely don't resent him.
I'm glad that whenever someone makes me doubt Super Metroid that this board exists.
(By the way, should I move this thread to "life sucks"?)
