Quoting Hyena:

But seriously, how is putting your birthday a bad idea?

Who knows, who cares. I never had a problem with it, as I just always either forgot about it or ignored it. The worst people can find out is that I'm 16, and that perhaps downloading and dealing P.S.R. over Yahoo! Messenger on a 56k is a somewhat suicidal idea at my age (We will not be getting into other brave forays into my downloading records).

*shrugs* Wouldn't know. I just stole it from someone, and I don't remember who.

Sounds like lyrics from Nirvana's Territorial Pissings...

Quoting Hyena:

Assuming he's trying to hack us, which is dumb because we don't have anything worth hacking (It's not like we're developing Doom 3 or anything) and he finds all these little security holes . . . why would he report them?

Hey, just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you. >_>

ah don't bother, I really think we shouldn't even bother replying to his posts, maybe eventually he'll get bored.

I still don't know why it's a bad idea to use birthdays in member profiles...

He isn't saying.

Maybe HE'S the talented hacker you're speaking of.

I mean, he pointed out several security holes in the message board. That IS pretty suspect, you know. Makes you wonder why he was looking for them in the first place...

That's a little difficult considering you put numbers to represent months and days.

But seriously, how is putting your birthday a bad idea? Then everyone knows how old you are? (OH NO THEY ARR GOIG TO GIVV ME A HRAD TIM BECUZ IEM ONLY 14! No, they're going to give you a hard time if you can't spell and you type in all caps.)
Does putting your birthday up mean a talented hacker could break into a government registration network and find out your real name and home town? Ooooh a talented hacker really cares about me.

What is the problem?

You could always put in blatant lies. Y'know, like 'Feptober 35, 2930'. People stop caring in a hurry.

...You might want to consider not putting your birthdate up for anyone to see in your profile. This generally isn't a good idea.
