| Doc Funky 05/03/2006 05:00:30AM | Quoting Chaos: But on the other, most gamers are too immature to actually get over the name and buy the thing. I remember wondering if gamers would be able to get over the graphics in Wind Waker, and that seemed to be a huge success. ['course, I never played it, but I hate the 3D Zeldas...] Something else I thought of earlier today [and can't remember hearing anything about] was how I'm supposed to play a SNES game with a remote control. I mean, if I download Super Street Fighter 2 Hyper Championship Tournament Turbo Fighting: The Fighting to my Wii, how am I going to control it when the remote has, like...three buttons? |
05/02/2006 06:04:37PM | I pretty much agree with the majority on this one that it's a stupid, stupid name. But unlike most people, I'm not shitting myself over it. It's a horrid name, but I can live with it.
And I'm still tryign to decide if the name is brilliant marketing, or a disaster. On t=one hand, it's got everyone and their mothers talking about the console. But on the other, most gamers are too immature to actually get over the name and buy the thing. I am enjoying the fanboy reaction, however. Both the "I LOVE WII IT'S SUCH A CUTE NAME TEEHEE" and "ARGH I HATE WII I'M GOING TO CALL IT THE REVOLUTION FOREVER AND LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT." |
| Doc Funky 04/30/2006 07:02:21AM | I'm still as insanely lazy as ever, so...to start, I'm just gonna C&P my thoughts that I posted on some other message board.
As I said on that other board: Hmm... I was already kind of soured on the "Revolution" because of the wacky control scheme...and, let's face it, it's not going to "change the way we play games forever" because of the simple fact that its two biggest competitors, whose systems carry the most popular franchises, are going with a normal control scheme. The Revolution might "change the way you play those three Nintendo games you own**" forever, but I'm still gonna play MGS4 (and 5, 6, etc.) the same fucking way I played the first 3. And now it has the weirdest possible name. Can you imagine? Guy: "Do you have Wiis in stock?" Clerk: "Sure do! Wheeeeee! Ha, you loser." Guy: " ;_; " The "Nintendo Donkey Testicle" would have been more marketable. Actually, after marinating in this news for a while, I'd say it wouldn't be so bad if they'd gone with "We" instead of "Wii". I mean, you could push the whole "play with your buddies" better if it was just "We". Y'know? ** Currently, I own: 9 Gamecube games 21 XBox games 68 PS2 games And while this shows you how sad and pathetic my life is, it also shows you how big of a difference there is, as far as must-have games go, for each system. |
04/29/2006 03:50:39AM | I'm sure everyone has heard of the infamous "Wii" by now. Post your thoughts. |
