02/05/2004 08:44:43PM | They better not make it a cell phone.
I foresee the following: - The game system will cost about $100 extra because you can use it as a phone. - You're required to pay a monthly fee to be able to use it as a cell phone, which utilizes a network set up by Nintendo (which would probably suck) or an existing cell phone network that Nintendo partners with, which means it will cost you more. - Because all the game systems will use the same network, they can raise rates or create bizarre policies that hurt the customers and you can't switch to another network unless you get a different phone. But because it's a game boy and phone in one, you'll want to try not to let its double feature go to waste, especially since you paid a bunch of extra dollars for the phone feature. |
| Suppo 02/05/2004 07:31:10PM | Quoting Hyena: Not the only thing special, eh? ...Backlit screen and a headphone jack? (Okay, I guess that last one's a bit of a stretch)... Nah, they don't have the technology for that yet. maybe they'll make it into a cell phone as well... deja vu anyone? |
02/05/2004 06:00:26AM | Not the only thing special, eh?
Wireless multiplayer? Internet adapter so you can download demos of the latest games before you buy them? Complete compatibility with all former Nintendo systems, including Virtual Boy? Backlit screen and a headphone jack? (Okay, I guess that last one's a bit of a stretch) |
| witeasprinwow 01/24/2004 06:19:59AM | They've announced the screens will stack vertically.
They've also announced that the two screen feature will not be the only thing special about this device. What the fuck? |
01/24/2004 06:07:54AM | I like the Nintendo BS one. The viewfinder was great too. Hooray for satire. |
01/24/2004 06:05:43AM | Those pics are great! The viewfinder one made me laugh. |
01/23/2004 05:59:51PM | Then again, they've been making non-angular consoles (GBA, N64), but the GBA SP and cube are blocky as hell... I really wonder what they're gonna do... |
| Suppo 01/23/2004 05:43:28PM | there's actually some very interesting designs among those crazy double-gameboys. Though sicne this platform will not be compatible with gameboy, I doubt they'll use the basic design of any actual gameboy. As you said, Nintendo innovates a lot, They definitely will innovate with the design this time too. |
01/23/2004 04:36:37PM | Tee hee |
01/23/2004 12:05:19PM | Didn't they say the DS won't have any compatibility with the other platforms? Hmm.
And Ninteno sounds like some chinese pirate firm name. |
01/21/2004 10:52:32PM | Okay, Ninteno is it. ;) |
01/21/2004 09:35:00PM | Chaos: You should have left the thread title :p |
| DCB 01/21/2004 09:22:30PM | Knowing Nintendo, we shouldn't expect this to hit stores until 2006. But damn this is one pretty kickass concept. |
| witeasprinwow 01/21/2004 08:43:28PM | I'm guessing it'll be a doubly-wide GBA SP with the screen split down the middle.
That seems to be the best option to make the thing functional while still portable, anyways. And yes, there is still a hell of a lot of explaining to do. E3 will be damn interesting this year. |
| Angel of Doom 01/21/2004 08:38:06PM | hmm, this should make multiplayer all kinds of interesting. |
01/21/2004 01:55:35PM | Hmm.... Sounds audacious... As long as it's easy to pirate it should be successful enough... |
01/21/2004 08:54:21AM | I want to know how they expect you to control the actions on these seperate screens though. Plus I wan't to know what the thing will look like.
If theres one thing Nintendo truly excels at, it's innovation. |
01/21/2004 08:15:07AM | Holy fruits.
Viewing your stats from a different screen....enables fullscreen gameplay! This stuff would be great for a Metal Gear game. Fight a boss real time while your CO talks about your childhood embarracements. The future of gaming, indeed. c_c |
01/21/2004 06:01:56AM | Hmmm, very interesting... Very interesting indeed. I want to see how this turns out.
PS: Your spelling error has thus been fixed. Your idiocy has now been hidden from the world for an extra day. You're welcome. |
01/21/2004 06:00:13AM | Heh. Cool. I hope.
Hee hee. Ninteno |
| witeasprinwow 01/21/2004 05:36:21AM | ...Wants to surround you with TV's.
Does anybody else see someone eventually playing video games on a 10-some monitor rig, like the one the ship has in The Matrix? I have no clue how this will work out, or how they plan to fit that on a portable, but it'll be interesting, that's for sure. Edit: Ninteno! Ninteno Ninteno Ninteno! Whee Nintendo! |
