Nobody really took this as a serious issue, it's just that the topic came up so we talked about it.

Why is everyone being so damn sensitive about this "issue", cause it really isn't one in my opinion. Like he said, the thread was a the top of the list in its forum, and it's not like it bothered anyone that he replied. We have so little things to do here that we have to point out who revives threads? what does it matter when the gaming forum is dead anyways?

And for my little opinion, I would agree that Halo2 looks like it's going to be one hell of a game.

Bottom line: outside of the Big Topics forum activity at this place is slow due to so few regulars. I suppose we just have to use common sense.

That top topic thing puzzles me.. Is he making sense or not? Cause the top topic can be an old topic and you don't revive old topics, but when the oldest recent topic is the top topic what can we do?

I guess you are right about that. But it was only the top topic because there isnt much activity in the general gaming board. But like its been said, the criticism was more directed towards damed$oul.

IT WAS THE FUCKING TOP TOPIC!

Geeez ¬_¬

EDIT: IMO, posting in old threads isn't the problem, the problem is having posts that are like on the bottom of the page or several pages away brought back to the top, when it's been gone for ages. This was already at the top, so no harm done.

I realized you probably knew Max because of his low ID and I think I saw him while I was lurking around Acmlm's one time, so I didnt say anything. When a person is gone for a few months, he deserves to post in a few topics he missed out on. At least he was on topic.

Mmm... Max is an experienced message board poster if there is such a thing, I've known him for 2 years online, I think he just mistook 8/24 for 9/24, which is why he replied to this thread...

However, damaged$oul has made 8 posts, 8 of which were quarter-liners, and at least 5 of which revived old threads...

[Secret message: I never got around to coding the ban script heh... I wanted to make it perfect with goatse popups and all but my computer crashed and I was discouraged... I should try again...]

I agree with you there DCB. But wites got a point too. A week is a little short, but a whole month is a little long. But like I've said before, unless you've got something beneficial for the topic at hand, dont post.

Myself, I'd say about two weeks...

I figure that people will see the thread sooner or later, and if they care they'll post... Maybe a week will go by and then someone will post in it, but if a whole two weeks goes by, then unless someone has something really good to contribute, it should more or less be considered closed, since by that time chances are that nobody's got anything real to contribute. There's no reason to drag a thread back up like that just to post "I LIEK TEH HALOZ LOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Quoting Chaos:

1) Do not post if the last post was over a week ago unless you have something really good to benefit the conversation. ESPECIALLY if its over a month ago.

This is where I disagree. I think the window should be totally open for about a month, maybe a day or two longer, before that rule should be applied. A week is just too soon and passes by faster than one would think, and you gotta consider how slow activity is here, especially compared to the old board if any of you were around to remember. Even if activity picked up, topics still should be given some time to cool off before getting shut down.

Argh... Let me set some things straight here.

1) Do not post if the last post was over a week ago unless you have something really good to benefit the conversation. ESPECIALLY if its over a month ago.

2)Someone else reviving the dead topic does not deem it alive again.

3)None of that "game x is better then all the others!!! halo/cs/ut/wall street kid/anyother game is teh l33t!!" crap. If you like a game, good.If you want to discuss said game in an appropriate manner, go ahead and post a thread about it (notice: discuss means explain what is great about the game and why. not just "zero wing ownz"). If you disagree with someone else's opinions, explain your views but dont start flaming them. This isnt gamefaqs, so dont treat it as such.

And I dub thee closed.

On second thought, I'll leave this open. If you have a comment or question about the reply policy, you might as well do it here.

MONTH OLD THREAD

MAX IS ASKING FOR BAN HERE

EDIT: Okay, mabye I should have said more:

PLEASE check the date of the last post in a thread. If it's over, say a week or two old, I wouldn't suggest posting in it.

This is what I think:
Internet/Big LAN: Unreal Tournament
Small LAN: Quake 1
Console: Perfect Dark
Single Player: Max Payne, if you count that as an FPS...

EDIT: I like Counter-Strike, when played on the correct servers where there is no cheating going on, and you also know most of the poeple who play.

“You really can’t mince around with these TiVos, Todd. If you wanted to turn on a machine and have it tell you you were gay all the time, you would just play Counter-Strike online.” Quote taken from here.

I like Goldeneye for its exclusive multiplayer maps such as Library and Bunker. I hated Facility and Archives since there was little room to move or escape, which really clashed with my run-n-gun style of play.

I love Perfect Dark for all its features and weapons and the improvements it gave to the three "classic" maps (PD Complex is possibly the greatest battle arena ever--very balanced with wide open rooms, dead ends, and the maze-like circular layout). And holy crap having crosshairs available at all times really makes a big difference when aiming on the run.

Unfortunately the next PD won't be available for Gamecube, so I settled for the next best thing--Timesplitters 2. It's a souped-up version of Goldeneye (it's made by the same programmers after all) with more interesting weapons, crazy characters/scenarios, and some decent powerups. And of course the one feature that makes all the difference in console FPS games: a functional easy-to-use Mapmaker. The aiming system and the user/gameplay setup interface both suck, though.

I can't say much about PC FPS games since I never really played any since the shareware version of Doom. Besides, I'm very attuned to the dual-stick control schemes of consoles, so no complaints there.

I like library better for proxy mines... It's kind of like a "king of the mountain" thing, because the guy on the second floor ALWAYS gets the upper hand, until he accidentally kills/traps himself with his own mines! It's really fun! :P

Goldeneye was good for it's time, but I think it's really been left behind by newer FPSes...

That's probably why I still think of it as the best FPS of all time...I haven't really played any others, aside from Perfect Dark and Halo. Perfect Dark was better technically, but it lacked the charm of GE007, and Halo is just too different to really compare the two...

Goldeneye 007 memories:
Proximity Mines in the Facility with my three best friends!
Loading up the bathroom with proxy mines to screw over whoever spawned there next was always a blast (har har). We'd even call out when we were doing it, so no one would interfere.

I agree about Counter Strike... Plus Half Life's engine is getting VERY obsolete, it's not a good multiplayer game... The Quake and Unreal series were much better for that!

Yeah, UT was one of the best FPSes ever. I'd have to say that either that or Halo is the best FPS ever... Fuck Counter-Strike, I have no idea why people find skill in playing a game that's coded so your bullets don't go straight (Although it was a good game before version 1.4)

First: I FREAKING HATE SIBBIE LOQUE! Damn 100% accuaracy rating...

Second (regarding Goldeneye): I thought it was always fun for me and my 2 cousins to gang up on my brother and kill him repeatedly (especially by planting proximity/remote mines at the spawnpoints).

Unreal Tournament is excellent at LAN parties... M-M-MONSTER KILL! -- So much self satisfaction...

Also when you play instagib (To the uninformed: Everyone has a modified one-hit-kill shock rifle, kind of like a railgun) with the bot called Loque, the whole games becomes a race to be second to him, because he simply is the best at aiming (He's a bot...), it makes it even more fun, the game is usually fast paced, he makes it even more extreme...

Goldeneye 007 is cool too, but only when you have 3 experienced friends to play with, or else it can turn into a real bore...

Ok. I'll agree with you there (because of the whole first person adventure thing), at least as a console FPS (i hate that dual stick aiming shit. computer fps are way better with a mouse). Also one of the only games based off of a movie that wa sany good (and really good at that).

Id have to disagree... Metroid Prime is the best FPS of all time. Oh, excuse me, I mean First Person Adventure or all time...

Oh, and since you have an unquenchable desire to spam post right now, I shall direct your attention here.
