However, I think whoever said that is reading too much into the Alzeimer's thing. Certain fish have very short-term memory, and I'm 90% sure that's what the joke was based on. I agree completely with Suppo, by the way. The movie was not about making fun of disabilities, it was about overcoming them. Some people are just out to get offended. It reminds me a lot of a guy who made an internet comic (It partially inspired Tom's Comic, by the way) about a really really 1-dimensional character. Here it is. A little background you should know, this was about the time the war with Iraq started. Rayle, Nanami, and SilverWyvern are the names of the three most prominent female members of the Doom community.
Now, I thought it was hilarious, but after the guy put it up, his girlfriend saw it and thought it was demeaning to women, and if I can put it so bluntly, bullied him into taking it down. Not only did she entirely miss the point of the comic, she also refused him the right to keep it for people who actually did understand it. :/ |
| Suppo 06/26/2003 02:55:47PM | yeah they are openly talking about disabilities but the movie's point is that even if obstacles are in the way of what you have to do, you can still do it, it's a message of hope.
ps: I think you meant alzeimer's disease |

| Angel of Doom 06/26/2003 02:48:30AM | mabye. but, according to a source of mine (otherwise known as one of my idiot friends), it makes off hand references to a bunch of disabilities. physical deformities, alshimers, you name it, they got it |
| Suppo 06/26/2003 01:22:19AM | Honestly, I believe it's one of the best films I've seen this year. Really, it's funny, the plot makes (more or less) sense and the characters are funny. All in all I recommend this film to anyone who likes animation. |
