I still havent played Star Fox (besides in-store demos). But it seems to me that it was just a generic OoT-style game and Nintendo threw Star Fox into the mix to generate more sales. God bless capitalism.

On an unrelated matter, will somebody please goto www.blizzard.com and tell me if it worksfor them? Ive tried going there repeatedly with no such luck...

Uh, the item collection didn't seem too much different than OoT and I actually found the hand-to-hand combat a little more difficult as most of the enemies need to be damaged more than typical OoT enemies.

Well, at the point I'm at right now, anyway. If I keep fighting exactly the same enemies through the whole game, then yes it would be too easy, but I don't think that's likely.

That may be true, but since OoT didn't have me collecting about 20 different item types at any one time, I'll still just stay away.

Besides, the space battles will just make me want to play StarFox 64 some more. (and have heard the hand-to-hand combat in the game is ridiculously easy)

Huh?

To me it's like Ocarina of Time but with occasional space battles. I wouldn't say it's as good as Ocarina of Time but the gameplay is remarkably similar.

I've noticed that those who have played SFA seem to be extremely torn on whether the game is good or not.

As it stands, I'll just listen to my girlfriend's opinion, and not get it. If anything, it sounds like the amount of collecting in that game would drive me fucking batshit.

On that note, Starfox Adventures kicks ass.

I agree with DCB. I would have done it differently if i was in charge, but it turned out good the way they did it.

I find it strange that Nintendo went for the cartoon-esque appearance for Zelda while at the same time making the Star Fox games more realistic-looking. I would've done it the other way around. Miyamoto is an unusual individual, but I guess he knows what he's doing given his track record.

The cartoonish aspects haven't bothered me at all. Hell, I think it's good that the Zelda games are getting a sense of humour, regardless of what that humour is.

Well, that's good. It's just the really dumb stuff that bugs me.

Thats the word i was thinking about. slapstick. I couldnt remember so i just kept saying comic relief. I dont know about you, but seeing 2 darknuts hit each other because they missed hitting me makes me laugh.

It's not the comedy that bothers me. Comic relief is different.
When the molblins desperately try to run even though they're obviously high above the ground, it's a major laws-of-physics infraction that only fits into slapstick comedy cartoons, and not a game that would otherwise be serious.

In Lord of the Rings (the movie), when Gimli and Aragorn talk about female dwarfs and how they have beards, it's comic relief. If Frodo opened a package that exploded and made his face all black it would just be stupid.

Youre right. Ive noticed alot more comedy in this game then the others. I origionaly responded to this thread a few days ago, but i realized i wasnt logged in and I didnt feel like typing it again. I had said that the added humor was really minute. But after playing it more, Ive noticed alot more of it. But I think its a cool little addition. Most of it is pretty subtle (like the look on a Darknuts face when you slice its armor off). But if we think back a bit, then we remember this isnt the first hint of comedic relief in Zelda. Who can forget the scene in Ocarina of Time after you complete Dodongos Caveren. When Darunia rushes at Lnk and tries to hug him and Link runs away scared. Despite this extra cartoonishness, the rest of the game is really great. My only gripe is that sailing around is rather tedious until you learn the ballad of gales. Also the game seems rather short. According to the guide, ive got one dungeon left, then if got to gather something (i wont say what because some people are picking about not wanting to know anything beforehand. But if youve ever played Zelda then you should be able to guess right away)
then im off to Ganons Tower and beat the game. Ive only been playing for 5 or so days. Keep in mind Im not usually too good about completing video games in a timely fashion.

IF YOU ARE ONE OF THOSE TYPE OF PEOPLE I TALKED ABOUT A BIT EARLIER, STOP READING THIS NOW you picky bastards... :p
I really like the storyline too. Its supposed to take place over 100 years after OoT. Here is the prolouge if you are interested

Ok, ive talked long enough...

When I first saw the demo I was annoyed at how cartoony they made it. I like cartoony games here and there, like Mario and such, but Zelda has always been a more serious series to me.

Those molblin guys falling off a cliff, and hanging there shaking their legs before they actually drop seemed really inappropriate for Zelda.

I'm sure it's a great fun game, I'm just a little disappointed about that aspect.

Damn that game is so beautiful in every way. I got it yesterday, Planet X recieved an early shipment and gave them out to the reservist people. I had played a demo at Wal-Mart awhile back ago and even that was great. I wasnt too sure about the new style, but once youre imersed in the gameplay, you wont even notice. You might even grow to like it as I have.
